On or Off Campus Housing?

This is my first post on here, as I'm thinking about going to CSULB in a year's time as an exchange student from the UK.

It's all a bit daunting because I have no one to ask about college in the US, so I thought I'd try this out. Basically I'm having a bit of a dilemma deciding on what housing to go for, I can't really seem to find anything that ticks all my boxes. This is the kind of thing I'm looking for;

Private room
Shared kitchen (I don't want to eat in a dining hall- I'm used to making my own meals)
Private or shared bathroom
Not full of freshman (I will be a junior)

Is there ANYTHING at CSULB that fits this description on campus?? I've been looking and can only seem to find double rooms, and in the UK everyone pretty much has their own room at Uni so I'm a bit scared about sharing one. If not, does anyone know of any reliable private off campus housing that's near to the campus that kinda fits my description? I got pretty worried when I google'd a couple and there were loads of instances of cockroaches (we don't get them in England and I'm absolutely terrified of bugs, pathetic as that may be).

Sorry if this has been a bit of a rant, but I won't be able to see the housing until I arrive and so I could reaaaally do with some recommendations!!

Thanks so much :)

your best bet is an off campus apartment. Theres a page somewhere on the housing page that has listings for student apartments

Craigslist is a good bet sometimes. I live close enough to campus that I can just stay at home, which is a good and bad at the same time. Being a transfer student I just have to stick it out, living at home for 2 more years.

Anyway, back on topic. I have a friend who is renting a room in a house that she found on craigslist. She has two roommates but the house is massive and she pays $450 a month. Problem with CL is there are a lot of sketchy people on there as well.

Hi meeow.

I’m also beginning my first semester at CSULB (transfer from SBCC) entering at junior level. Just like yourself, I’ve had a hard time finding a place to live. I’m looking for the exact same thing as you are. Lemme know if you’re interested in finding a 2bd/1(2) bath apartment close to school and maybe we can find our own place.
