On Rolling Admissions...

though I'm not sure about this, I feel like we will have to wait for it in the mail because although they are rolling, the decisions get sent out up until the regular decision date, so I feel like that is when they will release all the decisions online.

ILR Mom here- D is a junior so I have been following these boards for a few years now. So this is what has happened in the past.

Each year it seems like less and less kids hear anything before 4/1- so do not interpret "No News" as bad news. Many, many kids in the rolling admission schools get their ACCEPTANCE on 4/1.

Probably sometime next week, some kids may be getting e-mail acceptances with a letter to follow in the mail. (Remember Monday is federal holiday and there has been alot of snow in Ithaca- so there may be delays). But in past years, acceptances started coming out around 2/18.

Each of the 3 schools seem to act independently. In the past--(as an example) ILR may send out a few acceptances 2/20 and maybe another spurt in March- and then probably not again until 4/1. CALS may send them out by major, so their acceptances may be coming out a few days apart and it may seem like "continuous" rolling decisions, but it really isn't- the decisions may be sent out in batches based on program of study. It's not as complicated as it seems but it is difficult to explain.
Because I have been around for a few years, I have kind of been following the pattern. Someone said Hotel may not be doing rolling this year. I do not know if that is true, but it certainly is possible.

As you read these boards, you will know when ANY decision has been released cause someone will post it right here!

As I said- less kids seem to be finding out anything until 4/1- so don't think about it- And Enjoy your senior year. Good luck to all-

Marny: Do you have any insight into applicants from Human Ecology getting phone calls and extra letters letting them know about the March 29, 5:00 PM decision time? Getting pretty stressed here that others are getting those. It appears that HE only admits in the neighborhood of 400-500 students. Of course, we immediately think that with student ambassadors etc you could easily call that many. Some of gotten phone calls others have gotten a little packet with a poster and something else. WHy would Cornell send that NOW and unless it is a good sign? ANd is it a BAD sign that an applicant doesn't receive that? Two from the same high school got the mailing. Could it be from their regions's admission person? Thanks for letting me speculate and RANT, I guess at the same time.

i already posted this in the acceptance thread but in case u guys dont read that, i called up the admissions and they said that CALS does their decisions between feb 15-march 15, and decisions, whether accept or reject, should be posted by then... pretty sure thats what she said, someone want to just call in and make sure??
