On the right track, at least?

I attend a pretty good public school in Southern California, my class is about 815 students. I am only going to be a Junior.

with many hours throughout, along with a bunch of church stuff. plan on being a youth leader senior year

Not sure what else to say?

I plan on starting a Little League Team with a friend because one of my passions is sports (football and baseball), but i wasn't cleared to play due to high risk of necessary knee and or back surgery. I Figure, keeping stats for the high school is lame, but having fun and teaching little kids would be cool, although, I'm afraid of the "players father" aspect ;).

Also, plan on helping out at Habitat for Humanity after taking Wood 1 freshman year, it really opened nother hobby of mine. (need to be 18 though)

Average. (Seriously.)

Nothing on there makes me think you are a super achiever. Your class selection might be a bit weak.

How many people a year does your school usually send to Harvard?

thats exactly what I expected to hear. I am not about to put all my eggs in one basket and set myself up for failure. I would just like to haev a Fighting chance.
In the history of the school, 2. The School has just graduated its second class (I will be in the 4th graduating class). But basically, MANY go to Berkeley, UCLA, USC, oftentimes with scholarships. Being in southern California, people would rather stay here it seems than "out there." There have been a fair share of MIT, JHU, Penn, Stanford, Caltechs
But nothing special.

I'm really, just hoping for 2200-2300 on my SAT, so that at least I know, I have some sort of a chance in hell at it. Maybe its 5 percent, but I can always get lucky.

I would LOVE to attend, but also know its not the end of the world if i am not accepted.

11 APs, all honors, and a few self studies is weak for harvard? Maybe I may just have to settle for UCLA.

Damn my WhiteUpperMiddleClassitivityWithRegularECsAndNothingspecial-ness

Perhaps I shouldn't have said your studies seemed weak. Let me rephrase - your studies seem generic.

<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=208164%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=208164</a></p>

Perhaps this is what I was referring to when I thought your academic record seemed weak. :)

if you get that SAT score that you aim to get and if you maintain your rank, get some EC's in you have a chance a decent one i'd say

Why are you planning on AP Bio and Chem if you haven't taken Honors science classes as a freshman/soph?

It sounds like a lot of APs ... (trying to keep the weighted GPA up?) I can't imagine taking 7 at a time Senior year ... you'll want to have somewhat of a life too!

You might want to focus on obtaining leadership in some of your other ECs and hopefully "making a difference" in one or two.

It's really competitve, not doing all those APs will drop me out of the top 5 percent.
And before you do AP bio, you HAVE to do bio and chem (called college prep), they do not offer honors bio and chem. Although, if you get into Bio as a Freshman its Kind of considered honors, jsut without the weight.

well i know my extra curics and awards and whatnot aren't really... existant...

but i see what you mean.

That makes sense. I didn't realize Honors wasn't offered, and wasn't sure if science just wasn't your thing. Your school does sound incredibly competitive - especially with such a large class. Find out when the ranking is sealed - i.e. some schools close rankings at the end of Junior year.

Perhaps one of those ECs that you enjoy will lead to a terrific essay!

I think Red Cross has been great. YIES training which is first aide and CPR, Major participant and organizer in Relay for Life, School blood drives, and just a ton of great service opportunities.

The best advice I can give you is this: Do not have a passion for getting into a good college just because it is a good college--it will backfire, trust me. Instead, find what you love and explore interests in highschool. Don't join clubs if you don't like them; quality over quantity.

the honors program at my school is only offered for history and english. for future reference, is that something to point out on your application?

Take a look at the people who actually got into Harvard. For example: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?p=2051050#post2051050%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?p=2051050#post2051050</a>

The ones accepted seeemed to be either very balanced applicants, or those that demonstrate a strong passion and pursuit of interest.
