gpa’s a tad low, but since it’s your freshman year, really not a big deal. Just keep it up and you’ll be fine

thx, is there anything else I could do in addition to improving my grades?

Nobody can really assess your chances of getting into an Ivy League school or a highly competitive institution. The college admissions game is a real mystery, but you seem to have good grades and good motivation. Keep your grades up (Bear in mind that there are several colleges that do not use freshman grades when calculating your GPA), show your passion in your activities, and make sure that you have very strong essays and great letters of recommendation. There really isn’t much else that you can glean from these chance posts. Remember that no one here, unless specifically stated, is a college admissions counselor. In addition, the college admissions counselors who are on this website will not give any opinions regarding your chances of admission. And finally, remember that Ivy League schools are not the end-all be-all of college education. You have listed other schools that are not Ivy League schools that are also outstanding.

@psychodad thanks for the response! Yeah I do realize the ivies arent everything, i am just one of those people that needs a goal and a direction i guess (:

^ the last paragraph is spot on- I think it needs to be required reading material for all CC HS students.

What is this? AP Engineering. I hope that this be a joke.

Chance a serious person who is at the end of his senior year?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1506920-what-chance-do-i-have-getting-into-any-these-schools.html

^^^ well its technically principals of engineering, but everyone calls it ap because you get college credit and so on. My fault, should have mentioned that.

@redhuntinghat- sorry i meant top 50 public school, that is in Maryland. As in nationally top 50, lol, again, should have clarified.

^^ Okay, I think this means that you need to not worry about this at the moment.

Enjoy your high school career and put college out of your mind. If you learn more and enjoy what you are learning the grades and test scores will come. Read, read read. It will improve your reading comprehension and your writing and ultimately allow you to go where you want.
