I apologize if this question has an obvious answer, but my search on CC didn’t directly address it.
After completing the FAFSA, I printed out the PDF of the form - is this what the colleges receive? It clearly lists the schools to which the information is to be sent. It uses the schol numbers, not names. I thought that colleges were no longer able to see the list of colleges to which the student has applied. So, has anyone here ever seen what comes through on the other end of this process? (Can we be certain that the list of schools is stripped from what the schools receive?) Thank you
They don’t get a PDF. They get the numbers sent to them electronically. I believe they did fix the list issue. But even if not, I really doubt colleges care where else a student applies. They know you aren’t ONLY applying to one school.
The school gets something called an ISIR. The FAFSA processor sends the information electronically to the schools. Schools like mine, which are technologically challenged, print out the ISIR and review the information manually; other schools have the information loaded into their student information system & are able to view it that way. Either way, we all get the same info … everything you put on your FAFSA except the names of the other schools.
