so i submitted my app last week and i was wondering for those who have done it already how long it takes to get contacted about an interview.
i know the schools interview policy and i think the interview would allow some of my qualities to shine.

^likewise.

but i guess it’s all luck of the draw.

i assume you’re an ED applicant?

I’m not applying but my friend submitted Part 1 of the app in mid-August so he could see part 2, and was contacted a couple weeks ago (NYC area).

I guess your friend was lucky but at the same time he also submitted his P1 really early

(you don’t have to submit P1 to know what’s in P2 btw)

I just had my interviewer contact me.

:)

im not going ED but i submitted my entire app last week and submited part 1 in late august

It’s completely luck of the draw. It has nothing to do with your application’s content at all. Very different organizations are setting up and conducting the interviews (alumni representative committee) from the ones evaluating the applications (admissions committee), and the former is much less organized.

as of right now - please note that RD students are not being interviewed, so brown14 that is why you haven’t received an interview. it is just ED students, and then a lil’ bit later they give us all students to interview.

if you are RD it doesn’t matter how early you submitted it, you can’t be interviewed until they release those students. however, if you submitted it already than when they do usually those students get interviewed earlier as most students wait for the deadline.

Well I’m international and I submitted my ED application Part I on August 5th (the day the Columbia application came out).

Still no interview :(

WHY WHY WHY??!?!

@themerlion: because you had to be a smartass and pick majors like linguistics
