Has anyone else gotten interview requests from Columbia?

I'm assuming this refers to the ED applicants. Still, this is a little early, is it not?

Not yet. Submitted Part I not interview request yet.

hi folks, i do interviews for columbia. the interview season has started, earlier than i can remember, but the folks at columbia said they wanted to give us alums as much time to complete all the interviews as possible. which works for me, and hopefully i may meet some of you.

this is only for ED applicants for now. and as a reminder, not everyone will receive an interview (depends on where you are applying from, how many alums are around, how active they are in interviewing). don’t panic here if you haven’t received one or if you never receive one, they don’t tell us your academic information so it is not as if alums choose you based on how strong a candidate you are, for me it is based on how close i am to you. good luck to those who have applied, and a special reminder that if you have an interview you don’t know how much it will or wont count (from my discussions with adcoms it varies based on the student and how good the interview report is - so normal variance), but please be prepared in every sense, nothing is more aggravating than volunteering and taking time to meet with someone who is unengaged or inappropriate. we aren’t paid to interview, but we do it cause we love columbia and helping reach out to all you great students out there.

and i believe it is based on if you submitted only part 1 of the application. it is possible you submitted part 1 and haven’t finished part 2 or other documents. regardless, if you intend to apply to columbia part of putting up a good front is accepting the opportunity, accept the interview and have a good time. let’s assume you say i haven’t finished my app yet, well that might give the alum the idea that you are not that serious about cu. at times leading on too much could be a bad start to the interview. keep that in mind.

good luck everyone. hopefully this is another banner year for CU.
