One Bad Semester

Hello!
I am about to start my second semester of my sophomore year (high school).
I usually do well in school, (first semester freshman year I got a 3.83 GPA (4.0 weighted because I took AP Human Geography and got an A) (Second semester 3.63, all honors and one AP class which I got an A in), but this past semester I didn't do very well. I got a C in honors geometry and honors biology, I failed honors Algebra 2 (I was taking it a year early), and I got Bs in Spanish 3 Advanced, AP Microeconomics, and AP English Language for a 2.16 semester gpa (abysmal).

If I improve this semester and receive a GPA on par to my freshman year, will I have some chance at being accepted to these colleges: Oxford College of Emory University, Emory University, Case Western Reserve University, George Washington University, and University of Georgia.

EXTRA INFO: I also volunteer as a Sunday School teacher, I volunteered at the leadership and naturalist training camp at the Chattahoochee Nature Center, I volunteered as a student athletic trainer for my school's sports medicine program, and I rowed crew for a semester, and I have a double legacy for Emory University and Oxford College of Emory.

Constructive criticism and tips on receiving good grades are appreciated!

Question Asked:
1.) Do I have any chance at gaining admission to said colleges?

It’s really too early to say anything about your chances in colleges, other than that failing a course your sophomore year will most certainly hurt you and that your GPA is definitely something that needs to be worked on…

Right now, the best thing you can do is study hard and get all A’s next semester, work on advancing yourself in your extracurriculars and maybe doing some ACT/SAT Practice (or taking the real thing) by the end of second semester.

Good luck, you still have time to show colleges that you can improve! especially during junior year(:

It’s important to show an upward trend with your grades, studying and hard work will prepare you for college. Talk with your guidance counselor, they can be a great ally as you prepare for college. If a Particular subject is challenging for you maybe look at honors course instead of AP

Thanks for your advice!
