Hi, I just want to get some input on how much a 1st Semester Senior Year could help. This first semester, my weighted GPA is 4.33 approximately. That is going to help my overall GPA which is 3.93 right now and my class rank which is 42 of 330. I don't know to what extent, but I feel like it could really help me out (I am taking 3 APs so they add some nice weight since I got As in all of them). Do you think this could boost my chances? Here is a quick summary of my stats:

GPA: currently 3.93 weighted, between 3.7 and 3.9 unweighted, not entirely sure on exact #.
SAT: 630 Math, 640 Reading, 680 Writing - 1950
SAT Subject Tests: 600 Math II, 610 English (only sent to schools that required it)
ACT: 29 Normal, 30 Super-scored (not all take super-score)
Class Rank: 42 of 330 (almost top 10%)

I don't want to delve into extracurriculars since I just want to get a grasp on the basic stats and how much this semester will help me right now. Here are my schools:

Colgate University
Hamilton College
College of William and Mary (not instate)
George Washington University
Boston College (deferred to RD from EA)
Georgetown University (deferred to RD from EA)
Dartmouth College
Cornell University
Fordham University

Already Accepted to UVM, Umass Amherst, and Tulane University for a little background. Any responses will be appreciated....Thanks!

I don’t know how much it will help with the schools you applied to because at this point they use the mid year report just to make sure you didn’t flunk. They don’t really use it to make a decision.

However, for Boston College it will help greatly, since they distinctively want to see this semesters grades.

You have a great shot at these schools anyway. Goodluck!

The only schools I really know enough about are Dartmouth, Cornell, and Georgetown, and I personally feel like you won’t get into any of the 3. There’s still a very small possibility though depending on your ECs.

yah I probably should have noted, I know Cornell Georgetown and Dartmouth are all reaches.

And the point of this was not necessarily to have a conventional chance thread, I just wanted to get some specific insight not how much colleges take the first semester grades into account since in my case, I think they could really improve my transcript. Good to know on BC, though.

Just confirmed today that my Overall GPA is officially 4.33 for this semester. Going to have to wait a little for updated rank and Overall High School GPA.

Nice job boosting the GPA,Gefty-I’m sure you worked hard, and those AP As definitely help.

I still think you are borderline for Hamilton and Colgate, unlikely for Dartmouth and Cornell. I would imagine BC would decide you are worthy, and I can’t comment on the other schools.

Good luck! At least you already have some good options!

Just looked at my new stats…now ranked 30 out of 332, so I am top 9%. Overall weighted GPA is now 4.06. So with this solid news in mind, chances now?
