One Letter of Recommendation? PLEASE RESPOND

Hi

I applied ED to Northwestern and only sent one letter of recommendation, completey unaware that two was the norm for NU.

Do you think that this will hurt my chances of acceptance at all or is just one necessary to get accepted?

Thanks

it might hurt your chances a little bit, i'd recommend emailing the admissions office informing them of your error and trying to see if they can include a note in your application that you simply were not aware of the fact that they required two, and it was not just that you could only find one teacher willing to write you a good one.

i dont think northwestern requires two teacher recs....just one plus counselor. however, i think it is true that two are strongly recommended.

i know, at least for transfers, two recommendations are "required." I don't think they will throw out your app, but i do think it will hurt that you have one less rec than anyone else. She said she only sent in one REC, not just only one TEACHER rec.

Yeah, I only sent in one rec. No more

So this will honesty hurt my chances of getting accepted that much even if everything else is on par with the university?

Yuck, somone help

nothing really much you can do at this point, just call the admissions office for comfort

So they measure the amount of recs as opposed to the content of the ones written?

It seems to me that a very well spoken, thoughtful teacher rec would make up for a lack of letters instead of the adcoms just simply analyzing the sheer quantity of letters.

Maybe I'm in denial

I would hate for something so stupid to ruin my chances of getting accepted though

its ok i only had one too

it's just that they ask for two recs, they obviously want two different perspectives, and everyone else who applies is going to have two gushing letters of recommendation, and you only have one

also, hate to say it, but only submitting one rec when they ask for two shows an inability to follow directions and lack of preparation. Not that I don't understand, but that is probably how the admission officers will look at it.

On the common app college info, it says they only require one shrugs

I called Northwestern, and asked them about recommendations, and basically I was told that they look at what they give you.. meaning one teacher and one counselor should suffice...

This also means you can send more... I sent in three teacher recs and one counselor rec, and they said they would look at all of them.

Also, I am applying RD using CommonApp

yeah never asked for two. soo i dont think they will think im "unprepared"

Hey, so on one part of the website it says:

Teacher Evaluation Form (Required of all applicants)
(Northwestern recommends at least one teacher evaluation but will accept additional from people other than teachers)
Please see "Evaluations" section in online application.

That is what I origionally read and have prepared to send one rec.

I was just looking through the rest of the sight, however and another part said:

Teacher Evaluation (two recommendations are recommended)

It sounds to me like either option is fine.

i sent in two and a counsler rec, but one got lost in the mail
:(
i really hope that doesnt ruin my chances
