One more envelope from Smith

It seemed too early, and yet it was weighty, they paid a dollar and change to mail it, so it would have been the worlds fatest rejection..our pulse quickens as ....Daughter opens it and ....it is advertisement brochure saying they know the next month is tense, but this is what the college is about. Anyone else get this last minute mailing?

Argh.

I'm so sorry. I guess they figure the contact is good but I'd be exasperated. One thing I like about Wellesely is their Early Evaluation.

We kept saying, this can't be coming this early, LOL, I hate being right. I think early eval may be the more humane thing. I also think a junior eval might be useful, but I guess most people don't think this far in advance. Anyway the pictures were nice of smith, although I didn't see any shots of the snow.

Well, the glass in front of one of the two working webcams has some water drip splatters on it but if you want to see Smith with snow, check out:

http://www.smith.edu/webcams/

That and a weather.com page set to Northampton are my way of keeping up with D when we haven't talked or IM'd for a few days. (Been up to her eyebrows with midterms most recently.)

Both Smith and Carlton have moved to Aruba recently, as you can see from these postcards http://www.smith.edu/admission/postcard/ (not a drop of snow anywhere to be seen) or the Carleton site. Our kids tell us all about this snow stuff to humor us, and keep us in the dark....

I can't get the webcams, just a message saying AXIS ActiveX can't be registered on my computer. Did you have to do anything special to see them.

Kriket, I forgot...AxisX is a software thingie you have to download for the video. I forget whether it came with one of my media players or if I downloaded it specially...I'm pretty sure it was free.

Fwiw, weather.com says the current temperature is 28 F but feels like 20 F with wind-chill and it's cloudy.

Yea, Mr. B. I got that in my mailbox yesterday. I was so excited and confused at the same time. Too big for a rejection letter, yet too small for an acceptance package...

yeah. so sadistic. but fun to read.

read it, thought "you tease"

Oh I remember that. It was very annoying since the last college related material I got was a denied admissions letter from Stanford!

Got one of those too...so annoying.

I GOT THAT! I was freaking out! I thought they had sent me an early rejection letter, and apparently, it was just a book about them... makes me feel... even more curious about whether or not I get in. That would really suck if I don't get in, but they mail me all this stuff... argh! btw: if anyone wants to check out the smith camera's, but they don't have the software supported, go here and DL (download) it... http://webcamsupport.keywest.com/ you can then install it and view the webcams... sorry it's sort of a roundabout way... hope it helps! :)

This did not work for me, I still get the message instead of the picture.... I am still finding Smith one of the freindlier colleges, even if their web camera snubs me.

Mr. B, I think the Smith webcams want something called Active-X on your system. (Maybe without the hyphen?) Anyway, try a Google search.
I forget whether it came with another component or what but if not, it couldn't have been very expensive or I wouldn't have downloaded it.

To be OT: Smith is now on Spring break. Went into the Boston area with a friend from her house, hopes to connect with a friend from high school now at Boston Conservatory. This after staying up until 3:30am Wednesday night working on her Linear Algebra mid-term, having clocked something like 17 hours on it.

if you guys go to the link i provided, theres a little link in the sentence after the first paragraph. download it and install it on your computer. then restart. it should work then. hope this helps :)

Thanks xaguamelonx! I was able to download it and get it to work for the first time! Previous attempts had been unsuccessful...

Some days I don't like my computer. I downloaded your rec xaguamelonx but I am still getting the message that my computer won't accept their activex video...Maybe I can find an 8 year old to fix it for me.

lol i'm sorry. without making this a "fix your computer" board, what kind of computer and OS (operating system) are you running?
