I took the ACT exam and received a 21 for the first time self studying, but I really didn't know how to self study and knew nothing about the ACT and really need a hands on tutor to help me. I have 9-10 weeks before my next ACT exam and I am aiming for a 27-29 Composite Score. I know I can do it because my first time taking it was complete BS; I did not focus or study as much as I should.

Considering my goals and situation, what one-on-one tutoring has worked for students looking to raise at least 6 points on the ACT exam?

Princeton Review?
Kaplan?
Study Point?
Sylvan ?
any other that needs to be considered?

PLEASE HELP :/

Avoid all of the companies you mentioned unless you know the name of a specific tutor within the organization that a friend can recommend. The big companies constantly churn through tutors, which means all too often you get stuck with a tutor who is just learning.

Talk to your friends who have scored high with some prep. Who did they use?

Without knowing what have you difficulty with the first test, I can’t tell you exactly what to do. However, based on your scores I’d recommend reading a lot more. That’s probably the biggest hurdle.

I agree with BeardofZeus. In addition to asking your friends, try asking your school guidance department for any tutor recommendations. They often know the best ones out there.

I have never personally used Princeton Review, but I have heard that their one-on-one tutoring is pretty good. It is expensive though.
