<p>I have one DS (19) who left school in January, came home and worked from March through August and left in September for cross country trip and may or may not be back again this year. I also have a DD (17) who will start college fall 2011. When I file FAFSA do I still have two dependents? If DS does not plan on returning to school in 2011, which is probably the reality, at least right now, I can't claim two in college. Anyone go through this?</p>
<p>She is still a member of your household for the sibling’s FAFSA. The criteria is that if she would be your dependent for FAFSA if she were filing FAFSA, then she is included as a member of household (though not, of course, one in college). We had the same situation with our son not being in college our daughter’s first year of college.</p>
