Online application: what do they see?

i’m previewing my application in PDF, and some of my activities and rewards are cut off, but it fit into the space when i typed it in. which one will they see? do i need shorten everything?

Yes, your going to have to. At least thats what I heard from the person who answers the phone at the office of admissions. It sucks but good luck I finished about 2 min ago.

Hmm is this true? I believe someone previously called who said that doesn't matter and they don't use the preview format. (BTW if you print the application as an HTML all should fit).

No, if you print the app everything gets cut off. thats why there is now a warning message that pops up every time you modify that part of the app. I am just sending a resume with my signature form.

by the way im dyslexic if i cant spell ;)

Yea but they said if they print it out it doesn't happen. I am sending in an activity sheet myself.

Did you note anywhere that you will be sending an activity sheet in or something?

damn...i should've thought of this earlier...do you guys think it'd be okay if i fed exed it tomorrow?

and do you typically elaborate on things (like if you founded a club or attended a special summer program) on an activity sheet? or do you just list things like a resume?

Some of my activities need further explanation which is why I am sending in an activity sheet. You can list Co-Founded as the title in the online application if you want.

yeah mahras...i called my regional director who said that they don't print it out as a PDF so it doesn't matter if it doesn't fit on the PDF when you preview it. i hope that's true...

Thats what I heard as well. The HTML printout looks fine to me. If it does get cutout it shall be the part that says (view information in activity sheet)

dude. i really hope that's true...i'm having a hell of a time trying to shorten everything...

i'm debating about the activity sheet. it'd be nice to be able to elaborate on some things, but my supplementary rec already describes my major extracurriculars. would it be redundant to send in an activity sheet?

Then its not really necessary.

"The "Adobe Acrobat PDF" option will allow you to view your application as our office will see it after you have submitted your application."

well that sucks.

UMMMMMMMM. too bad i submitted mine without a resume.

Oh damn. My part I won't look very good then.

Hold on:

Where it asks to list your AP/IB courses: Do you include courses you are taking as a senior? Or courses you have ALREADY taken?

uh oh.

i thought that was just for test information...were we supposed to put the AP courses we're in this year in that section? i put them in the section where we listed our schedule!! and i just sent in my app!!

I really have no idea. The due date is tomorrow so I am going to find out all these information and sending my app in tomorrow. If the online app doesn't work then I will just print it and have it sent by snail mail.

just a warning...i don't think you're supposed to print out the online application and send it to penn. i remember reading that somewhere. you might want to make sure.

I don't plan on doing that anyways. Yea I will be making sure tomorrow when I call and get everything fixed.

I called teh admissions office today. They told me it was perfectly fine and not to worry about the preview. They DO NOT use it and see all characters.
