A family member wants to go into nursing. Already has a 4 yr degree from a university in health sciences. are there any online programs to get a BSN that are any good. I don’t think there are cause of lab work but if you know any. She needs to work while going to school to pay for it.
Online BSN programs are degree completion programs for students who are already RNs with an ADN/ASN, While you may be able to find nursing programs with online components for lecture, the clinical component of the nursing curriculum will always have to be done “live” under the supervision of a nursing instructor.
Be very very suspicious of any for-profit programs, and make sure that a program is fully accredited by an authentic organization that will allow a person to take the RN Exam. There may be some official-sounding accreditation organizations which are not legit. A person also needs to make sure that the credits they earn in any program will be able to transferred to another college. Some of the for-profit credits do not transfer.
It is more common to offer online programs for existing RNs to earn a BSN, because they have already completed all of the required clinicals.

There is an accelerated online BSN program at Marian University - one located in their hometown of Indianapolis and one in Nashville, TN. Yes, the coursework is online, but the proctored exams and the clinical component need to be done in person at the nursing program’s location.
