I recently enrolled in German 1 online to take over the summer and German 2 over next spring. The reason I chose to do German 1 over the summer is because I heard it’s insanely easy and the whole class can be completed very fast (self-paced). I really don’t want to take a language class in school. In middle school we all had free Rosetta Stone accounts and that’s how we did all foreign languages. I liked the system of doing it online and got used to it. It also frees up room for me to take some computer science classes next year. Anyone else taking online classes this summer… or just summer classes in general?
One of my son’s friends took general biology over the summer. Since they cram one school year worth of material into a little less than 3 months, it takes a lot of time, no matter how “easy” the class is. You should be able to get an A per your descriptions, but it will take a decent amount of time.
Think of the positives and negatives.
I’ve taken 3 online classes so far. Before freshman year, I took online PE and health. PE was easy grade-wise, and I actually got a good bit out of it from a physical aspect and was more in shape after the class than before. Health class had a lot of projects, but it was easy also, and taking the two classes together was manageable.
Before sophomore year, I took online pre-calculus, semester 1. It was a lot of work but it was very beneficial and very manageable. If I had opted to take both semesters over the summer, it would have been major crunch time, since the class was only 6 weeks long.
Generally, I like the flexibility of online classes. It’s going to be weird not taking one this upcoming summer, but I’m seriously thinking into taking an advanced English class over the summer. That’ll be a new experience, if I decide to follow through with it.
I’d definitely take an English class online over the summer but my school doesn’t allow us to take classes online that are already available in school… I spent most of English 2 (Honors) gaming on my laptop and sleeping and got a 96
