Online classes say online in the description. Online classes aren’t easy either. At least I didn’t find them easy. They usually required a lot more writing and they constantly have assignments due every week.

Honestly, there’s no sure fire way aside from making sure the course says ONLINE or WEB in the title. If you look up the online courses via the Course Lookup in Secure Apps, you will be able to find a decent list of many courses that are at least partially online.
It will depend on the course as to whether it is fully online or not (plenty of the courses listed there require taking exams at the FSU Testing Center or whatnot, which to me means it isn’t completely online).

Unfortunately, I think you’re going to be limited to one of the above classes, unless you look at the course listing in Blackboard and stumble upon a hidden gem. If this was prior to the start of the summer, you would have many more options available.

My experience has been quite the contrary. While yes, many of the courses have weekly assignments, none of them were particularly difficult. Many professors understand that often, online courses are schedule fillers and as such the assignments are not meant to take a lot of time. The average I’ve found is maybe an hour a week for the assignments, and maybe an hour or two elsewhere (except on longer papers).
I’ve taken several online courses and the lowest grade I’ve gotten was an A-. If you apply yourself (just like any course) and have decent time management, you can do well in any course, especially online ones.

I am willing to put the time into the courses and have always found the online hybrid courses to be better than normal classes. I guess when it comes to drop add I will just have to start adding and emailing professors, thank you guys. I know I should have figured this out earlier, but what can I do about that.

I’m also curious what courses are offered online, especially Humanities courses (3000/4000 level Lit and Religion courses particularly) and Social Science courses (particularly those which count towards the IA major).
Unfortunately FSU doesn’t seem to have a very broad selection of classes that are offered online, other than basic required courses.

Bumping for interest.

The only Humanities department classes that are offered online next semester are:
HUM2210: Prehistory to Late Antiquity (Humanities I)
HUM2235: Renaissance & Enlightenment (Humanities II)
HUM2250: Modern (Humanities III)
HUM3321: Multicultural Film

As for the IA (International Affairs) major classes that are online, the ones I know are
GEA1000: World Geography
PAD4374: Intro to Terrorism
PAD4375: Advanced Topics in Terrorism
ECO2000: Intro to Economics
SYD3020: Population and Society

If you want to see a full list of classes that are available online, under the Course Search, there’s an option for “Additional Criteria.” The first option is online courses; however, be careful as not every course listed is 100% online. They may require you to take exams at the FSU Testing Center in the stadium.

Also for courses that count toward IA there are:

SYP 3000- Social Psychology of Groups
SYP 3454- Global Justice Movements

or at least they were available online last we checked on Thursday.

Pasbal,

Does CLA3501 have any on campus requirements for the online summer B class? Thanks

Whoa, old thread. I think this was actually one of the first I got involved in… talk about flashbacks!

CLA3501 didn’t require being on campus at all when I took it. All of the quizzes and stuff (and there were about a half-dozen, 1 a week) were online.

I can’t say whether that has changed or not, since I took it in the summer of 2010.

Pasbal, Was HUM 2235 an easy course to take online?

Yes. All of the Humanities classes I took online- HUM2210, 2235, and 3321 were pretty easy. If it is still the same as when I took it, there’s generally a small weekly assignment due and then maybe a reply to one of your classmates’ assignments, with a term paper at the end. Most of the work can be done in an hour or so each week.

Of course, that’s if it hasn’t changed in the last few years. If it has, I’m not sure. But I actually liked HUM2235 pretty well and it was pretty easy.
