Okay, unfortunately most of my online classes start on the 31 or after. I have one that starts in March.

They keep moving the dates forward, I don't know why. In any case, I won't know how challenging the class is until after the update.

If I show one class as IP, but then when Spring grades release roll around it is a different class (the one IP was dropped), does UC care? I'm really torn here.

And does anyone know when UC actually starts examining the update? I already submitted the grades, but the rest of my classes a planned because the semester hasn't started for me but it has for other schools.

If I drop the February 2nd online class, and stay in the March one, I'll have the ability to drop the March one if I get rejected from my school(s) of choice.

I'm taking 9 classes for Spring and I don't need all to meet the 60 unit deadline.

edit: oh, and does it look worse to be enrolled in an unusual amount of classes compared to a previous semester?

Thoughts?

what? Geez thats confusing to read.

Calm down.
Relax.
Breath.

Don’t make the process harder than it is. Sign up for your classes. Put in your classes as planned or in progress. After Jan 30, if you don’t end up with those exact classes, follow the instructions on the form of what to do next. Either contact the admissions committee of UC, or each individual campus.

I’m not sure what the process is, but I am sure there is a process and it will be spelled out on the update form.

one of my classes is a late start class. doesn’t begin until march, right around when notices of acceptance/rejection start.

now, do I say the class is PL or IP? i am enrolled in all my classes. only three start this week. the rest start on the 30.

Can I say the classes are IP before they begin? Because the 30th is cutting it quite close. I kinda want to stay enrolled in the late-start class, because then I’ll know if I’m accepted or not and if not I can drop it since it is totally unneeded.

thoughts??

does 23 units look worse than 20 units? more classes look bad if you took less classes the previous semester?

Spring grades/workload will NOT help you with UC admissions. They can only hurt you in that if you don’t do well on them you can get rescinded.

Planned - Classes you haven’t started attending but plans to.
In Progress - Classes you have started attending but have not yet received a grade for yet.

If your spring classes have not yet started when you submit the update, you put “Planned” and not “In progress”

If your schedule changes after you submit the update you have to contact individual UCs to notify them of the change. This will not hurt you as the UC’s wont care unless its a pre-req.

btw the deadline for UC update is jan 31st not 30th.

what is the deadline for changing schedule? as i said before i have one late start class.

it starts right around when UC starts issuing out acceptance/rejection letters. the drop date is in april.

if i get rejected, i can drop the class without a notation. it is not a prereq, just taking it for the extra units.

so?

There is no “deadline” for changing schedule. The UC’s don’t care what classes you drop unless
- it’s a pre-req
- They accepted you and stipulate that you must complete all your classes with a C or above or you’ll get rescinded.

Okay. Hypothetical question. What if you are already enrolled in enough units to meet the 60 unit requirement, and you have one extra class that is a late start. If you are ACCEPTED, can one drop that late start class? If it is not a pre-req and just some random humanities class?

I don’t want to get trapped taking a class I don’t need, nor do I want to take an unnecessary class if I’m rejected.

^
This is where my expertise ends, I don’t know if the UC acceptance stipulates you must remain in the class you are currently enrolled in order to avoid a rescission.

Best thing you can do is go to the 2011/2010 UC acceptance/rejection threads and PM a couple members about it. I’m sure they can help.

Good luck!
