Are online classes good or bad? Do you recommend, and do the UCs look down upon students who take online classes? I've never taken one and only plan to take one maybe in the near future and wanted people's thoughts.

Online classes are perfectly valid and equivalent to taking non-online courses.

They don’t look good or bad-- they just appear on your transcript like any other course. There is no designation that says “online” on your transcript, at least at my school and the ones in the area that I am aware of.

For me they’re harder in the sense that I procrastinate a lot and the lack of a real classroom setting and instructor to communicate with face-to-face can sometimes be detrimental to my understanding of the material.

I learn more from a real class than an online class…but A’s are easier for me in the online setting oftentimes.

I took an entire semester online this last Spring. It was perfect for my schedule and is great for somebody who can stay on task. I don’t believe that the UC’s can even see that they are online on an official transcript so it really is beneficial to the student in the end.

some schools will not accept them, but your transcripts do not list if they are online or not. beyond that i personally like online classes, it allows a lot more freedom to free up your schedule. From my experience there is more bs and busy work involved than in person classes.
I find in person classes just consist of you showing up and listing, having some/none papers to turn in and exams.
while online classes have involved weekly participation, including weekly hw, tests, and the same amount of papers as in person classes.

The benefit of online classes, in my opinion, is that your forced to read the text book from cover to cover, which i find easier because you don’t get partial information that your professor may find relative(which i think is a negative of in person classes).

i took over 10 courses online. Transcripts do not state if they are online - i took online courses in over 5 CCs in the San Diego area.

They are not looked upon negatively
