To make a long story short, I hit HYT on my Air Force career. I'll be getting out in July and am planning on going to college. I was able to CLEP all my general ed. classes to get my CCAF degree. I was also able to take the SAT, where I got a 1900, and the subject tests for physics and math 2, where I didn't do so good. I'm planning on going to community college for a couple of years in CA, then try to transfer to Berkeley. However, I would like to apply to some of my dream schools this year as well. However, because I CLEPed all my gen ed classes, there are no teachers per se I could ask for recommendations. I asked some of my supervisors and commanders to do them, but they say the questions on there are catered to teachers. Is there any was around this? Also, for CCAF, being an online school and all, who would you ask for the registrar report? Any help in answering these questions is greatly appreciated

I should have elaborated a bit more. My questions pertain to applying through the Common Application website. I looked for answers on their FAQs, but couldn’t find any. They don’t have a way to get in touch with them directly, either.

When I used the Common App I was told by my school to have my supervisors fill out the recommendations as best they could. They made it work. Also, don’t hold me to this, but I wouldn’t hold my breath about those CCAF credits being accepted very many places, particularly a place like UC-Berkeley. Good luck.

I figured as much about the teacher evals. How did you work around the registrar report, though? I can’t seem to find the right person to ask for that. And unfortunately, you’re right about the CCAF credits not being accepted. The worst part is that even though some schools -particularly the more prestigious ones- won’t take any of the credits, they still won’t let me apply as a freshman! how unfair is that?

That’s odd. I never submitted a registrar report, both the first time I applied to Michigan, and the second time when I applied as a transfer. The registrar at the university I was at was taking their time with the paperwork as if they had never seen it before, so I just had them send my transcripts and said to hell with the report. I don’t think Michigan even noticed, and if they did, it doesn’t seem like they cared. Your mileage may vary however. Michigan uses the Common App and the UC system has its own application setup correct?

I’m not sure what kind of applications the UCs use, since I missed the deadline. I’ll have to wait until november to apply.

Try the military card and see if you can submit an application late. It can’t hurt.
