Hello, I'm currently a Junior majoring in English. I love to write, and I definitely want to write books, but I'm also looking into Journalism graduate programs. I think that I'd prefer to be a book and/or film critic, rather than a political or breaking news journalist, although once I'm in a journalism program, I might change my mind since I will be exposed to other forms of Journalism. I am also interested in schools that offer an Online/Digital Journalism degree, because that is what I'd like to focus on, if possible.

I was wondering if any of you could give me any advice on what Journalism schools would benefit someone aiming to be a book and/or film critic? If I had to decide, I would prefer a program that would ready me for a career as a critic over a school that offers an Online/Digital Journalism degree.

I have basically the same question…looking for a list/ranking/resource for recommendations of the top grad programs in multimedia, digital journalism

For sure I have heard the Columbia University program is cutting edge

This is from 1996 (the last USNEWS ranked J-schools), but for the most part (except maybe Mizzou being up top), these are still some of the more prestigious schools.
