I was wondering if anyone ever saw a website with online US college admissions counseling? It does not have to be an American website, but I am looking for something that is really interactive (preferably with a function like a chat or something similar), in which I can ask some counselor some questions, even for a cost. I could only find websites with very static information online. So, any input? Thanks

Such websites do exist. But they're more professional chances type things.

WASTE OF MONEY.

thanks for your post, but actually I want to see how professional counselors operate. Yes, I WANT THE EXPENSIVE USELESS STUFF OUT THERE. I am really curious to see how they work - I am thinking of writing an article about the phenomenon on a blog, so I want to see what is the best money can buy. Sorry for not being clear enough in the first place. Anyone knows such websites?

college confidential will analyze your stats for 89 bucks and guarantee you acceptance into one of ur top 2 ivies for 13500

i happen to like the CC community, so I won't be commenting on that though

College Confidential is full of helpful people who really know their stuff. I know I sound like a walking infomercial, but the community isn't the only good thing here, nor is it even the very best. The eighty-nine dollars I spent on my stats eval was probably one of the best eighty-nine dollars I've ever spent.

My experience with online counseling in general (yes, the money-costing kind) is that if you want to ask about your chances at HYPMSC (or any other "crapshoot" school), the counselor probably cannot predict more than you can yourself. After all, admission at those schools are so unpredictable that mere stats or EC qualities aren't enough to give a definite answer. There is absolutely no "guarantee" (unless, of course, you go ahead and spend $10,000 on one of those "sure-admit" programs) when you get up so high on the college list.

However, professional counselors are generally very informed about the Ivy/highly selective school application process, and can offer valuable pointers along the way, if not necessarily predicting admission.

CC college conseling is probably better than any other website..

I know that there's no way that those 10K plus counseling programs get everyone into their top choices. I want to know if those who don't actually get all of their money back. Furthermore, I want to know what these counselors do to get their clients in...do they pay the school? Do they have some crazy connections? If this actually works, why don't more rich people do it?

Well, I don't know how CC works, but I think one should note that the people who they promise to get into an Ivy or money back are surely already Ivy material. They have to apply specially for this program. However, I imagine CC just helps them to distinguish themselves from other Ivy material.
