I'm getting really frustrated about the online recommendations. I have a few colleges added(MIT, Chicago, Penn, etc.) and have also indicated my high school. However, I go to "School Forms" and there is no option to add teachers for recs. I already did a search of this forum that was ultimately fruitless and a waste of time.

What exactly is up? Do I need to wait a little longer for the online stuff to work? Am I doing something wrong? Should I mail out envelopes and forms and give up on the online recommendations?

ChoklitRain,

With the Common App Online there are two ways to have your recs submitted electronically, and it’s based on your high school. The method that’s most mentioned on CC is the typical online process where you invite your counselor and teachers. However, if your high school uses Naviance, your counselor and teachers will submit the requisite forms electronically to the Common App via Naviance.

The first thing to do is fill out the Academics section of the online application if you haven’t already. Then, go to the School Forms section. You will either see the page with the invite functionality or a page with a list of forms and text informing you that your school uses Naviance.

Hope that helps. Good luck with your app!

Wow, my school does use Naviance. Thanks for the help, I’ll contact my counselor for more info on naviance.
