OK... so I am sort of familiar with Common App. I did a trial run with it last year, no hitches. However, this year something is eerily different.

Last year, to do teacher recommendations, all you had to do was send an email through the Common App and the teacher would send it right back to Common App. Essentially you barely had to get "involved" in the process.

This year, there is a message that displays: "For transcripts, school reports and teacher recommendations, your school is using Naviance eDocs. Please contact your counselor directly and they will provide instructions specific to your school regarding these documents. Once your counselor and teachers submit their school forms you will be able to view their status here." I've talked to my counselor who says my school is not using Naviance for anything but transcripts and so he has no idea what to do (we've met two or three times and neither of us has any idea) and has told me to provide the paperwork to my teachers and do it "the old-fashioned way." This requires mailing (as far as I know) to each individual school a good portion of time beforehand; and the way Stanford and UChicago sounded when I went to visit they reallllllllly don't like receiving hand-written work.

Does anyone know how it works this year or if I'm over-exaggerating the consequences? I'd really appreciate any feedback!

Thanks so much!
