Sorry if this post doesn’t look right since this is my first post, but I was wondering if I messed up my schedule my not doing a foreign language my freshman year. My school offers four years but I didn’t know this so I didn’t start this year (just finished freshman year). Any suggestions? How badly will this hurt my chances of acceptance to top ranked schools?
You will be fine…did you start with Spanish/French/whatever 1 on Sophomore year? or did you start wtih 2 because of middle school? Then you woudl get to level 4
Im starting french one next year as a sophmore.
Don’t worry…take French and do well in it! Do well in your other courses and take the most advanced versions you re able.
Take it all three years and do well. If really really worry about it (say, you’re planning to apply to Tufts, HYP, JHU, Georgetown where it matters more) you can take a summer class at Concordia Language Villages and skip a level, or attend the OleMiss or Penn State Intensive program and review level 2+cover level 3 in a month and move straight into level 4.
Having three years of language isn’t going to be the reason you get in/don’t get in somewhere.Just do well in the classes you are taking.
