Only 3 years of language, will this hurt?

I was only able to take up to German III, and because German is an unpopular language at my school, German IV is only offered during one period during the day. However, my schedule was unable to fit it in, and I decided to drop it. I decided to take up Latin instead so foreign language wouldn't be completely absent.

How much will 3 years of a language hurt me?

I think it won't hurt you much, if i were you i would see about taking German 4 in the summer and get credits for it if you have time. In California, 3 years is the minimum. (Just to let you know)

It won't hurt at all. Taking 3 years of German can only help. Are you interested in German? You could try learning more German on your own. Of course, Latin is good to learn too. No need to explain why you couldn't get a fourth year of German, in your college apps.

Alright, that's relieving. I was interested in German when I picked it up in middle school, but I ran into a terrible teacher, who has since been fired.

I don't think it'll hurt you at all. I wrote my IB French exam as a junior which leaves me second language-less this year.

Depends where you are applying. Top colleges very much want to see 4 years of one language. Many take the forth year at a local college if their HS classes run out. For a more average college, 3 years is fine.

Hm, at my school the IB curriculum is pretty set in stone so there wasn't any choice about how much French to take or when to take the exam. Taking college classes is almost unheard of here, though.
