I would think if your family can survive the poisonous snakes of Egypt (!) you’ll get by ok in Albuquerque. When I googled Egyptian poisonous snakes the first 2 are vipers and cobras

He won’t be worried about that, my dad knows I’m too much of a scaredy cat to do sth like that LOL

Good point, I’ll be sure to bring that up if he says anything

You can also tell him that only about 1 in every 3 or 4 rattlesnake bites are envenomed, according to my EM doc daughter. Rattlesnake venom is not fatal like a mamba or cobra venom. You can survive a rattlesnake bite, even an envenomed one, without treatment**, although the experience is likely to be plenty painful.

Besides UNM Hospital and all other regional hospitals stock antivenom.

** Assuming you aren’t doing stupid party tricks with live snakes like that guy in Arizona who wrapped a rattlesnake snake around his neck to show off and got bit repeatedly on his neck & face.

Hell nah, as soon as I hear that rattle I’m running for my life. I just hope I run in the right direction LOL

Actually you don’t want to run if you hear a rattle. That scares the snake and may provoke a bite. You want to be very still and just let the snake go its own way.

Really? I think I remember reading that rattle snakes are super slow and so they usually stand their ground bec they know they can’t outrun us. I don’t know if that’s true or not though

The rattlesnake discussion is fascinating, but let’s move on.
