My school's resources are severely limited, so after Spanish III, Spanish turns into an independent study with a supervising teacher (who has another Spanish class the same block). Knowing that she'd be focused on her Spanish I, II, and III kids, I decided that taking Spanish IV would not be a positive experience. I knew my GPA would be destroyed and I would learn nothing. Foreign language is something I'm NOT willing to take a graded self study class for. Is there a way for me to let colleges know I had a legitimate reason to not take Spanish IV. Keep in mind that I got an A+ all three years of Spanish, and I am continuing to learn but w/o it being a graded class.
