oops. made a mistake.

So on Monday night I sent in my online application to Pitt. I was planning on e-mailing my essay this weekend. Right now, (i'm in school) I was looking at the Pitt website and I saw that Pitt suggests to submit the supplemental stuff at the same time at the application. Since I haven't done so yet, will this hurt my chances? Or do I have time since my transcript hasn't gotten to the school yet? My school takes two weeks to process the transcripts.
ah. I'm kinda freaking out. I'll be fine right?

I don't think that you'll have a problem - but you might want to contact OAFA and let them know that you're emailing your essay and that your school takes two weeks to process transcripts.

ah well, i sent them the e-mail after you suggested it. at last night i officially sent in everything. i sent my app a week ago...but my transcript didnt arrive until yesterday. I e-mailed my essay and actitivities list. I gave my teacher's envelops a week ago, so hopefully they sent their letters by now.

it feels good to finally have everything done!

I know the feeling. I did the application in July but just now got my essay, transcript, and letters in. SO happy to get it all done! This is the first one I've finished, and Pitt's my first choice.

Anybody know how soon I might hear from them? I'm watching the mailbox... :)

Was anyone able to go onto Pitts website and check their application status? When I log on its not giving me any information.

I had the same problem but then it just worked all of a sudden after like a week. Call them and they will tell you.

they told us over the summer during s visit that no decisions will be made until October 10, 2007. just another week or so and you shuld start to hear.

good luck!

I got my acceptance letter today! It came through snail mail and was postmarked October 1st.

I know another kid in this forum got his honors college admittance too...if they didn't mention anything about the honors college in it..does that mean I'm not admitted to it? Or could they possibly tell me at a later date?

There still may be a chance that you will get an acceptance to the honors college. Do your scores and GPA make you eligible? I know last year when my D was going through this she would get letters out of order meaning that some letters would be dated Oct 13, but wouldn't be postmarked until Oct 20 or vice versa. She actually got a letter postmarked Oct 17, but the letter was dated Oct 28. Not sure how Pitt handles all the mail from admissions, financial aid and the honors college. Good luck!

I just saw that the Honors College requirements have changed. Last year SAT cutoff was 1200- it's now 1400. Also stated is a top 5% HS ranking. As many HSs do not rank, I hope this is not held against an otherwise acceptable student.

Many schools don't rank students. I think as long as you have the test scores and a high GPA you should be fine. I thought last years SAT cutoff was higher than 1200. I'm thinking it was 1350, but I could be confusing it with the scholarship requirements. Last year is becoming a blur, but it's definitely getting tougher to get into just about any college.

Oh. My SAT's are why then. I'm in the top 5% of my class with a 3.8 GPA, but my SAT's were 1340.

If you are uncertain, give admissions a call and ask.

"Freshmen with SAT combined math and critical reading scores of 1400 or above (or a 31 composite ACT score) and who are in the top 5 percent of their high school class are eligible to enroll in University Honors College (UHC) courses."

That's from the website. Do you think the top 5% ranking is set in stone?

yes the ranking is set. I have a copy of the transcript the guidance office sent out and it says top 5%. I'll probably e-mail or call them soon just to see.
