Does UMich offer adequate, if any, financial aid for out-of-state students? I know they meet about 90% of need for in-state students, but I haven't seen any information for oos students.

… No one has anything to say about this?

General consensus in the past has agreed that financial aid for OOS is a rarity. The tuition from OOSers goes toward the subsidized rate for in-state students. I haven’t seen any actual statistics but I would personally not bet on substantial aid.

im a dirt poor OOS, but the school gave me quite a bit of grants and loans, almost enough to cover tuition. And I use other means to bridge the housing gap.

I’m OOS and pretty much paying nothing. It’s not common but it is possible if you meet certain…erm… criteria.

Ahh, good to see that people are getting OOS financial aid. I stand corrected with what I said, it just seemed that from what most other posters have mentioned that it doesn’t happen.

@square - not to pry, but could you divulge what your parents’ income bracket is?
@Yakyu - what is this criteria that you’re referring to?

my efc was 0(now it’s about 1k), parents income was about 40k
