The office of admissions told me in December that all applicants are considered for merit aid by simply applying......only Morehead and Robertson require school/self nomination. Somewhere I got the impression that if you got anything, it would come via snail mail a week after admission. CAn anyone confirm this? Any OOS folks recieved a letter? S is a NMSF and will hear next week if he is a finalist. He put UNC first and the girl in admissions said that it had to be first on his list at time of application. Does anyone know the amount and is it guaranteed?

NMSF money at UNC was $1K year when my son was there. I am not sure if that has changed but if so it isn’t to the level of some schools that use it as additional enticement. Fortunately for their sake, UNC doesn’t have to give the big NMSF $$ that some schools do to get people to attend. That said, you can stack it on top of other merit $$ at UNC.

Other merit award notifications are not sent with admissions packets and come sometime later in the process.
