OOS Tuition Help

Hello,

I have recently found out that I have received Preferred Admission into the Ross School of Business. However, I’m having a hard time with the hefty OOS price tag of Michigan. I have gotten into my state school, UT Austin (McCombs), but I really love Michigan. With my family’s income, I do not think I will receive much financial aid. Does anybody have any suggestions on how I should proceed? Is there anyway to receive In-state tuition for me? Is double the price of UT really worth it for Mich?

Thanks,
Any feedback is truly appreciated

UT is a great school

UM is also a great school, but not twice as good

So, I would stay in state. Save your family a ton of $$ and your future will be just as secure by attending in Austin over any other institution

@darthdad I think Ross BBA is better than McCombs. @bobm32 just apply to all the small scholarships. The money starts piling up one after the other.

^^this is very bad advice @TheShortSon… even if you are just kidding.
The odds of those small scholarships “piling up” is very low!

@snorklemom Are you sure? I know it’s a meticulous process, but it works.

Not $60K worth. Or even the difference between COA @Michigan OOS and UT instate. It’s nice to have goals, but he needs a backup plan.

Your first tuition year at UM is 46k, OOS.

McCombs: 11,600 IS

If you can’t afford UM out of pocket, you have an affordable alternative that is almost as good. Don’t borrow for that difference. Congratulations.

No way would I walk away from UT Austin in-state rates, not even for Michigan. That is such a bargain comparatively speaking.

Definitely choose ut Austin in state ut Austin has an amazing business school almost on the same level as umich and ur going to be just as successful as someone who went to ross. Trust me it’s not worth paying 4 times the price for ross they r both top 10 undergrad bba schools ross is 4 ut is 6 that’s a negligible difference. Even if u applied for small scholarships that money would be better served for ut where u might even be able to cover the full in state cost through scholarships. also it’s basically impossible to get in state tuition for Michigan they r very strict on it and there r even ppl at my in state high school who have to pay out of state tuition u have to go to middle school 2 years and high school all 4 years to get in state tuition

UM is notoriously strict with getting in state tuition. I believe their rule is you need to attend all 4 years of high school in Michigan. No hope for moving there or getting it switched after freshman year like some schools.
