OOS University of Washington Chances

I applied in December and want to know what my chances are for getting into UW, since it is my top choice. I’m from Idaho, so out of state, which I know means a lower chance of getting in. Hearing other’s opinions might ease my anxiety, as letters of admission don’t go out til March 15. Here are my stats:

-GPA: 3.86 UW, 4.091 W
-APs: 9 (APUSH, APHG, Chem, Bio, Calc, Stats, Comparative Government, English 11 and 12)
-SAT: 1270
-ACT: 29
-Class Rank: 4 out of 221
-ECs: Robotics Club, Spirit Club, 100+ hospital volunteering hours, National Honors Society, Future Hispanic Leaders of America
-Essay Topics: Background/identity, what it means to be a teen today

Other threads indicate that your intended major is in engineering. Washington engineering majors are competitive admission majors. Some may admit small numbers of applicants directly to the major as frosh; these spots are much more competitive than the school overall. Otherwise, you may be admitted as an undeclared student and have to compete by college GPA and essays to get into your major later. See http://www.engr.washington.edu/current/admissions/admitstats .

Yes it is-I decided to go for chemical engineering instead of petroleum. The webpage says that students can apply to the engineering subject of their choice once admitted provided they complete requirements at the school. I just want to make sure I can pass the first obstacle: actually getting admitted!

http://www.cheme.washington.edu/undergraduate_students/admission indicates that about 30% of the chemical engineering majors are admitted directly to the major as frosh. So pay attention to whether you are directly admitted to the major or just to the school.
