Several of the schools my daughter researched/toured suggest applying early for nursing is essentially a must to increase admission chances. UVA is one of her top schools but she wants to apply RD to give her more time to improve her GPA.
Stats - 1570 SAT, most challenging curriculum all through high school (actually, a little bit below), maxed out APs, all “As” junior year, even mix of “As” and “Bs” freshman/sophomore year. Attends top public school in Mass. 6 core subjects senior year (doubled up on math and science).
Not sure which option would be better. Thank you for reading!
I have a friend in UVA nursing. She got in OOS with an SAT of 1520, GPA of 4.8, and a strong record of leadership positions, clubs/activities, and extracurriculars. I would say based on your stats that you have a good chance at regular decision, but if it is your number one choice and have your heart set on UVA then apply early decision. The early decision is a new to the UVA application this year, previously UVA only offered early action and regular decision. Good luck!
@bigmacbeth - Thanks. I don’t think it would be a huge boost (maybe .1), but she’d like to show another 1/2 year of all “As,” which she thinks she can do. Can’t do ED because of $, even though I know they say they meet full need. We have a complicated CSS situation.
