I am a sophomore with a 4.33 gpa,over 500 volunteer hours, taken all AP and Honors courses offered, and im going to take the act this fall. will opening up a small business play a role in my application? will it show colleges that i have already taken the first steps already? BTW i want to study Business only in california, in colleges like USC UCLA and UCB. Also my second list would be UCI Pepperdine UCD UCSB UCSC and UCSD
It will make for an interesting EC and essay if you make money at your business venture. Also an FYI, only UCB (non-direct admit), UCI and UCR have Business schools. The rest of the UC’s have Business related Econ majors so make sure you know the differences in curriculum if you plan to apply. I would also add SDSU and Cal Poly SLO which have well respected Business programs.

cool! i’m on the path to make couple of thousand of dollars. i’m really hoping that it will show colleges that i really want it and that i can commit to anything if i put my mind to it as well as maintaining my grades at a high standard!
don’t do it because you think it will look good on your ap… if you start a biz, do it to make money and fill a need. Recognize it will consume time and detract from your other activities.
