Opinion about a medical field

@WayOutWestMom I don’t perceive the devil’s advocate thing as a negative and I don’t mean to criticize you. I just want to see you’re method of thinking.

The medical schools seem to do a lot of research with acupuncture, especially in pain medicine and palliative care. It is not a full time career in US unless you live in a high density population of a group believing in it.

Edit: Apparently there are some states where people are making good money. Interesting to see some states not showing any salary statistics while some are showing in 6 digits. There seems to be a large variation.

@texaspg I have actually heard of a growing interest.

@iwannabe_Brown I would actually disagree with your opinion since med schools are making advances in the field of naturopathy.

@WayOutWestMom in fact I feel that you are making incorrect assumptions based on an unfamiliar area. Med schools are digging deeper into this area.

@artloversplus oh wow that’s pretty eye opening

@Reddyparent3

I am not playing devil’s advocate. Nor am I making incorrect assumptions from a lack knowledge. I am telling what the perception of naturopathy is. I have 2 daughters who are physicians and I am a biomedical research librarian who works for biomedical research institute. I am quite aware of the state of the art in medicine.

Physicians and biomedical scientists think naturopathy is akin to voodoo since there is no sound scientific basis for their treatments. Additionally, naturopathy advocates against vaccinations–which is probably the most important advance in public health (aside from clean drinking water) in the history of humankind.

Acupuncture is sometime used as a part of a pain management program, but the data on its efficacy is mixed. In many cases, the placebo effect is just as effective as acupuncture itself. If you want citations I can provide them.

Agree with wanna be Brown

What? No med school is teaching naturopathy as though it’s a legitimate part of medical care. We had one come lecture us because patients might bring it up and when it came time for questions we took him to task over some of the BS they believe.
