Opinion based for anyone and everyone

I just want everyone’s opinion on this, I have been having huge issues at my current community college. I had a good first semester, had a 2.9 gpa, and things were going good. As time progressed however, my mom became ill and was put on chemo. I wasn’t able to focus on my studies and I took a huge hit, all my classes were failed and my gpa went down drastically. am trying to get into UConn Regional campus, if I’m able to get away I believe it will benefit me. I want to transfer by spring but I want to know everyones opinion on this.

Go speak with the transfer advisor at your CC. Find out what their experience has been with students in your situation. And ask if there is any way you could get a retroactive withdrawal from your failed second semester courses. If it had been you who was in medical treatment, that should be possible.

No no, it wasn’t me my mother was the one who was having chemotherapy, I tried to balance everything and I was basically worrying more about her rather than myself, I would come home and it was either she was passing out or she looked like she was about to die, I couldn’t focus in school I could only focus on her, I mean I would like to start fresh at uconn but idk if they’ll allow it for spring

Sometimes retroactive withdrawals can be arranged for mental health issues or extreme family situations. That is what I was thinking of in your case. Not likely as you weren’t the one with the medical situation, but definitely worth taking up with your advisor.

In any case, in order to help you through the transfer process, your advisor will need to know how things are now going with you. So do start with your advisor.

She knows everything going on and she’s helping me transfer as much as possible she believes that me leaving will have a positive impact, and if I can I’m gonna try to get a academic renewal or become a freshman again in uconn maybe talk to them and get them on the same page as me

You don’t get to start over again as a freshman as your transcript will go with you. But do look into the withdrawal possibilities.

I figured with that but I truly do want to leave by spring, idk if I make a good enough case to UConn Stamford if they’ll see eye to eye with me but I truly believe that getting away from everything back home will help me focus on my studies

I really want to get into this school, and staying in this area is gonna keep making my grades lower, if I’m away I’m gonna be able to focus more on education because I’ll be away

My school doesn’t allow retroactive withdrawals, so I have to explain to the admissions officer what happened

Many of the student who go to NCC dont come out …
