Opinion on some NYC colleges?

Hi I’m currently a senior in high school and I plan on applying to some colleges in nyc including Hunter College, Pace University, and Hofstra University. since I’m not from around the area so I don’t really know how they’re viewed by people. I plan on going into psychology, so it’s more important than STEM careers to go to a reputable school and I have the grades to get into all 3 of these.

What’s their reputation? Are they well known? How do employers view these schools?

Hofstra is out on Long Island, Pace is in Westchester County and Hunter is in NYC. All 3 are known in the NYC Area. You may want to also look at St Johns in Queens, John Jay in NYC, Manhattan College and Iona College in New Rochelle

PACE also has a campus in NYC.

What type of college experience do you want? city or suburb? PACE and Hunter both have NYC campuses so its important to consider that housing will be VERY expensive (probably around 20k). Hofstra is in the suburbs on Long Island, so it is definitely preferable to have a car for social/accessibility reasons. Long Island does not have good public transit. A plus for Hofstra is you get the college campus feel, but you are only a 50 train minute ride away from NYC. It is really your personal preference.

If you want other NY schools to apply to consider…
NYU
CUNY schools
Fordham
Barnard/Columbia
Baruch
Adelphi
Syracuse
Cornell
Cooper Union
Brooklyn College
NYIT
there are a lot of art schools if you are interested (FIT, Parsons, etc.)
