Wellesley College
Barnard College
Vassar College

My top liberal arts colleges
I want to pursue a double major of biology and theatre
Grad: Medical School

What are your opinions of these colleges?
Which would you prefer?

Differences? Similarities? You get the picture;)

They’re all really great schools. Why not apply to all 3 and then see?

I dont know a lot about Wellesley, but I do know a lot about Barnard and Vassar (well as much as can be found to learn through the interweb, books, and visits).

disclaimer: I’ll be a freshman this year (3 more weeks!!!) so everything I say is heresay; I do not speak from experience.

From what I’ve heard and read, Vassar has a really great theatre program. It’s very accessible for anyone with an interest and lots of talent has emerged from Vassar’s theatre program… Meryl Streep (not sure if that counts since it was so long ago), Justin Long, and others I cant think of but I’m sure you can find with a quick google search.

As for biology, I do not know a lot. But with Barnard you’d likely take a lot of those Bio classes at Columbia (speculation). If so, you’d have access to excellent labs and such. Not sure about Vassar’s bio labs. I have heard - this applies to most science lab based majors - that because of Vassar’s size its very probable for one to be able to assist professors with reasearch, possibly getting your name published with research. You may be thinking that because it’s liberal arts more people are majoring in humanities, which is true. This allows for professors and students in lesser populated majors to work closely and provides excellent opportunities for research.

I think they’re both excellent schools. I applied to both. You should apply to both and see what happens :)
