What are peoples opinions of the school?

It’s a great school! I love it and never would think of going to another school.

I’ve heard socially it can be difficult if your not from chicago and you dont know anyone when you get there. To what extent is that true?

We’re from NH; DD graduated from DeP 2010. In her fresh yr dorm she made lots of friends but said that many went home on weekends. She got a job and hung out with the kids who didn’t/couldn’t go home…they’d go out to Sunday brunch and then to the zoo, museums, Improv… Soph yr, she and 3 friends shared an off-campus apt; it seems “expected” that students will move off-campus and not stay in dorms. She seemed more disconnected from the school as she was now a “commuter” and had to take 2 buses to get to class. But, she was also a Community Service Scholar and had to do mandatory volunteer work/internships for all 4 years. She LOVED this and met amazing people; was involved in everything from saving animals to tutoring to sorting clothes in a second-hand store; plus lots of fundraising for different causes. For her, this was why she went to DePaul…the amazing opportunity this afforded her to do something different. I know that lots of her friends from freshmen year had transferred out by the end of soph year. DeP seems to be a midwest safety where area kids go to DeP for 2 yrs and then transfer to their “better-fit” school. It’s a mixed-bag but if you are independent and confident and are not expecting a football team/ frats/on-campus spirit, then it may be a good fit for you. After graduating, my DD moved back to NH for a year…BORING! She is now back in Chicago and HAPPY. :)

ok thanks! that makes me feel better about it. haha

My D is not from Chicago and didn’t know a soul when she got there. She has made lots of friends and is out and about in the city all the time.

But only go there if you want “urban.” D knows some guys who are thinking of tranfering because they want football. You’d have thought they knew what they were getting into.

yeah well im transfering from a place thats all about football with absolutly no urban so both those things sound good haha

I’m from penn state and I’m looking into to transferring here! it sounds amazing
