Opinions on COSMOS program?

Applications aren't open for COSMOS 2010 until February 1st, but I wanted to find out what people who have attended thought of the program. It sounds like there are a lot of rules - students have to use the "buddy system" to go anywhere, have to be accompanied by a staff member to go off campus, etc.
I'm 16 and I'm used to basically going out and doing whatever I want alone during the daytimes. Do they really enforce those rules or are they more loose with the older students? I'm really interested in the program, but I don't want to feel trapped.

A lot of programs apply the buddy rule and if you’re a girl, we go to the bathroom in groups anyways.

My friend went and she said that she enjoyed the experience immensely. She made a lot of friends and didn’t complain about anything. Apparently they have really good food too.

I think I’m applying too.

I think I’m going to apply as well. Which site are you applying to? And which programs? I was thinking Davis and maybe mathematics or introduction to engineering mechanics. I just think if I went to the mathematics one I’d be much older than everyone else because it only requires algebra 2 and I’m a junior.

Thanks for the info!
I’m probably going to apply to Davis for biotechnology or biomedical sciences, but I’m also interested in Santa Cruz for the oceanography and Irvine for marine biology.

it was amazing! u shud definitely go.

arox, which campus/topic did you attend?
