Hey guys :) I just applied to USF this past weekend. They sent me a letter earlier this year telling me about the honors college, referring to me being a good fit, since I went the "extra mile" in high school. Any opinions on if it's worth it or not? If so, how's the honors LLC?

Also- does anyone know if it'd be worth retaking the ACT later this year or emailing the Dean of the honors college to see if I can get into the Research College as well? I kept a UW 3.8GPA though my high school credits, and will have enough credits to get my A.A. (with a 3.89GPA right now) when I get my high school diploma next may-but only a 30 on the ACT- 2 points below the requirement.

Do retake ACT if for no other reason than possibly being eligible for more scholarships with a higher test score.

If offered Honors College, of course take advantage of the program and all of its special opportunities including LLCs. Contact the Honors College with your specific questions, that’s what they’re there for!

If you are coming in with two years of college credits already, consider doing a term in Europe, Asia, or Latin America. USF administrators are big on students getting “International” experience as we are all part of a truly global economy now and USF studies abroad may help you some in the future even with future employment opportunities.

Not to sound like a commercial, but I am a USF Honors College grad, and in my experience, it was definitely worth it! The Honors College is really like a family. The Honors classes are great-- they take the place of your gen ed’s, and in my experience they were WAY more interesting than some of the pointless gen ed courses my non-Honors friends were taking.

On top of that, there are scholarships available through the Honors college for travel and study abroad, which is awesome. They will also do anything they can to help you get placed with a professor to do undergraduate research, if you want to do so. The Honors College really added a lot to my undergraduate experience, and I reccommend it to anyone who is able to get in!
