Opinions on living ISLA VISTA?

<p>I will be attending Sbcc in fall this year for either 1-2 years and will hopefully be transferring to UCSB for the last 2 years, I live in England so I have a few questions on what college experience is like in santa barbara. I will hopefully be living in isla vista so I was wondering what you guys think about this place, is it fun, will i be able to make friends easily around here and if you people would recommend staying here? </p>

<p>Yeah the expense is one thing, I was born in cali so am an american citezen, not that out of state tuition is any cheaper… But im currently working to save up and plan to get a loan also</p>

<p>IV is pretty much all college kids which means a few different things.

  1. Pretty much whenever you want to go out there’s something to do.
  2. IV is a dirty dirty place. Dirt, trash, drunk chicks, we’ve got it all.
  3. Rent is ridiculous. Landlords can charge pretty much whatever and find someone willing to find it.
    Really people live in IV for the parties and the proximity (to UCSB at least) not for its affordable housing and luxurious surroundings.</p>

<p>If you’re going to SB then at some point or other you will pretty much have to live in IV but some areas are nicer then others and some party more, depends on what you want with your college experience.</p>
