I have searched the threads, and found little reference to Shenandoah re: music ed or performance. We're going to visit the campus soon. Is there something about the school I need to know? I have to wonder why it seems to be absent from the dialogue on most threads.

I don’t have direct experience with Shenandoah, but a friend’s daughter went there to major in flute performance. She liked it so much that she stayed to do her Master’s. Shenandoah is big in musical theatre, so there is some performance experience with that genre. They have a beautiful concert hall.

My D went to the SU Performing Arts Camp last year and decided she didn’t want to attend as a college student- I’m not sure why. It’s a very small school and there isn’t much to do in Winchester. It’s a pretty area, but the closest city (Washington, DC) is about 1-1/2 hours away.

It sounds like a really cool school, I was researching it as well, i think it’s just not well known, nothing bad about that of course

The camps are a good way to take a look at the schools (and meet the professors) if your child is not a senior already. A friend’s daughter applied to Shenandoah, Peabody and the NC School for the Arts (I think that is the name). She is going to Peabody, but got scholarship offers from the other two.
