Which is a better choice, the major will be nursing and the choices are university of portland and university of san francisco.
About 5 friends are going to the university of portland and no friends are going to the university of san francisco.

Which school would be a better choice considering the strength of the education of the major, city, and college in general, and why?

I don’t know either school, but had a friend’s daughter in class of 2010 that want nursing. She got into all but one school, however she narrowed the list down to the 2 that were direct admits into the nursing program. A few schools of the school didn’t admit students to the nursing school until the end of freshman year and a few others only admit the top candidates as freshman make the rest apply during freshman year. She chose the one that was an automatic admit with the best money. In the end this was a good choice, as she only had a 2.9 GPA in her first semester.

Has she visited both campuses? Assuming that the programs are equal in strength, and money is not an issue, I would think that the two schools differ quite a bit in environment. I used to live a few blocks from USF. It’s quite urban, and the closest merchant area, about a mile away (or less) is Haight street, for better or worse. It appeared to be somewhat of a commuter campus, so if I were researching, I’d want to find out more about the social options at the school. I don’t know anything about Portland.
