At the end of my junior year I have about a 3.8 weighted gpa.
My school doesn't offer many AP classes so the only one I could take was APUSH and I take mostly honors classes.
Next year I got into a program where I will be going to another town to take all college classes and will be doing clinical on site rotations with work experience. At the end of the year I will graduate with 24 college credits from the program.

I am in national honor society (plan on running for an office in this)
President of college ambassadors club
May be president or vice of drama club next year (4 years)
Chambers singers (4 years with multiple award winning choir)
Womens chorale (1 year)
Stage crew/theatre tech club (3 years)
Varsity indoor/outdoor track (1 year)
Gay straight alliance (2 years)
Student action league (3 years)
Youth in government (was to only one to get law passed at convention and leadership positions)
All-county chorus
NYSSMA

I have a brother with a life threatening illness and participated in the make a wish organization so I do a lot of volunteer work and fundraising for them, I dedicated the homecoming game to them for football and all the proceeds to them which was over $5000.
My brother gets intavaneous infusions every month as treatment so I also work very closely with the new york blood center and organize blood drives and go to schools to speak about the importance of blood drives

Outside of school I am very involved in classical music and opera, I am in my 6th year of private classical voice training and participate in the city chorale.

I was chosen to be a conferee at RYLA, the rotary youth leadership awards where I spent a week with other kids from around the county doing vigorous leadership training.

Awards:
Sojouner truth award for perserverence/effort
Freshman choral acheivement award
Community leadership award
Academic awards 3 years in a row for high honor roll and leadership

I am a certified peer educator for planned parenthood and have lead numerous community forums on health and safety.
I went to albany to lobby for womens health rights and spoke with senators.

I also do jewelry making

There may be other stuff but this is off the top of my head.
I took my SAT for the first time and didn't do as well as I thought I would so I plan on taking them again and expect a 1700-1900
My reccomendations will be excellent as well as my essays.

I plan on applying to
Marist college
Boston university
Temple university
Brown (extreme reach but I'm hoping to maybe stand out with my uniquness and essays)
NYU

Also, if you have any places you think may be a match for me let me know! I'm pretty free spirited and artsy

I think SAT is your only barrier, a GPA of 3.8 is pretty good as far as Brown goes. Also, you might want to look into subject tests, or SAT IIs, because they offer more insight into how well you know each subject compared to the nation, and getting As in a certain class may be either easier or harder depending on who teaches it.

Not to crush dreams, but unless you feel like you can bump up the SAT score to ~2250, Brown isn’t going to happen. For one, it’s damn near impossible to be different enough from the rest of the ivy league applicants to actually stand out. Plus, if you actually do stand out, it doesn’t compensate for the test scores.

You do have very cool ECs and the brother story, unfortunate as it is, will help you out. Unless you’ve exhausted all of your options and those are the 5 that you feel best about, I would explore more schools. If your first SAT was below 1700, NYU and BU are unlikely (unless you get it up to 1900ish, in which case you have a solid chance). Marist and Temple are realistic, but if you want arsty and free-spritied, there are better options – and better options around Philly, Boston and New York, if that’s what you want. Off the top of my head, Sarah Lawrence, Ithaca, Wesleyan (reach), and Bennington are some schools that, on paper, match you well enough. If you want more, though, buy the “Best 373”, or just explore the forums a bit.

If you like BU, why not Northeastern? You probably have a good shot there, and they have great internships and opportunities etc. Maybe not really “free-spirited” but Boston is an awesome college town.

Thanks guys! Brown I know is a reach, but its not my top choice so its not a huge deal for me. Marist is my top choice because I want to be a psych major and help kids like my brother and they have a good 5 year master program. Also its close to home and a beautiful campus, haven’t heard any negative stuff about it. Do you guys think I have a good shot at marist?

you aren’t clear about what your SAT is now, but if you can get it around 2000 you have a very good shot everywhere except Brown. For Brown, there just isn’t any way to predict. good luck

Marist IS beautiful, but not particularly artsy and free-spirited. On the standardized test front, also consider giving the ACT a try – and definitely check the requirements for SAT IIs at any of the schools you are considering. Also look at fairtest.com (or org?) – it lists hundreds of very good schools at which SAT/ACTs are optional. Have you looked at Bard College? Also on the Hudson, artsy, strong academics, SAT optional.

Your unique situation makes you a very good candidate
Try improving your SAT
None of us here are adcomms so we can’t be sure
But if you manage to show a lot of interest towards Brown in your essays then it could be a real possibility
