Opinions & thoughts on these colleges

I am a junior in H.S

So I want to double major in Education and Psychology
My criteria for the school would be that it is within a 1.5 hour distance from Newburgh NY(58 miles north of the kingsbridge area of the Bronx)(In the north direction) and up to 2 hours south (NYC)

So far all I know is that I would like a semi-diverse school with a lot going on as far as getting me into community service projects and into a classroom. The school should be NCATE certified as well I would also like a school with somewhat of a campus, the number of students can range because, for example I LOVED SUNY Oneonta but I also loved the Westchester campus of Pace University.

I have already received a scholarship to the Sage Colleges in Albany if anyone has information on this school as well as thoughts on these:

Brooklyn College
LIU- Brooklyn Campus
Eugene Lang Liberal Arts School
Lehman College
St Francis

Still am unsure as to what other schools I should look at, if anyone has any recommendations they are greatly appreciated.

thanks

You might want to put the College of St. Rose (in Albany) and Wagner College (on Staten Island) on your list. You might also want to check out Siena (Albany suburb of Loudonville) and Fordham (Bronx) also. While the latter do not offer degrees in Education they are NCATE accredited and offer training for provisional certification.

I actually did forget Wagner, I’m not sure what Fordham can do financially for me I checked out the website and I saw they don’t give much aid & I visited st rose, it certainley is not at the top of my list however.

Western CT State University is known for it’s Education major.

Lehman is known for its education programs. In a recent alumni magazine, I read about some innovative student teaching programs they are running that looked so interesting I sent the mag up to my daughter, who is studying education at a SUNY.

The school actually looks like a campus and since everyone is a commuter, it’s not likely that you’ll feel badly about missing “the college experience.”

My D looked at Western Connecticut but it was a suitcase school.

Good luck.

What’s a suitcase school?

Mostly good schools. I don’t recommend pace though, I go there and have had so much trouble with everyone there. Fordham is a great school, a bit expensive though.
