I am a parent and would like some input from other students.
My daughter applied to 9 schools. Three are reaches (Columbia, NYU & Norhtwestern) which even if she gets in, we really won't be able to afford now that I've done the FAFSA and seen our EFC. Two are safties to which she has already been admitted to..Ithaca and Marist, but they are on the bototm of her list. That leaves the other 4..Penn State, where she has been accpeted with a $1000 scholarship from the communications school and resident tuition because her dad lives in Pa, U of Miami, accepted with a 1/2 schloarship, Syracuse, which she hasnt heard from yet, but isn't really high on, and American U which she hasn't heard form yet, but is 99% sure she will be admitted with good $. (Has met wiht the head of admissions for our area on 3 seperate occasions and exchanged emails like old friends. She has pretty much been told she's in, without them actually saying the words). It seems her choice is going to be between PSU, Miami & American. She likes all 3.
She wants a double major of Journalism and Poly Sci.
Which of thse schools do you think gives her the best chance for a good Journalism grad program or law school? Which has the best reputation for being academically sound?
Of course she will ultimately have to make her own decision, but I'm curious as to what her peers think. I also gave her to option of taking loans to go to one of the 3 reaches if she gets in and I would pay 1/2 and she would pay the other 1/2. She doesn;'t think it would be worth it to do that if she wants to go onto grad school. What do you think?
Thanks for your help and good luck to everyone!

Generally I'd give PSU and UM a small edge over AU. But for Poli Sci AU might be very good. I don't think the gap is large enough to worry over to much.

Yeah at that level its about fit, not about prestige. No one is going to really differentiate these.
