PSU or UMiami

Hi everyone, I am sorry if this is in the wrong thread! I just joined CC and am not quite sure how it works.

Okay, so far I have been accepted into UGA, UCONN, Hofstra, Penn State, and UMiami. I am waiting to hear back from NYU and Syracuse.

Throughout high school I always thought that I wanted to go to NYU. However, I recently realized that the cost of attending and living in Manhattan is astronomical. There is no way that I would ever be able to afford to live in the city, so I went on to search for other colleges.

I currently live in an Atlanta suburb, but I am from New Jersey. I always thought that I wanted to go to college back in the Northeast. So I applied to the above colleges. (I also applied to my state school because I qualify for a full tuition scholarship).

Anyway, I narrowed my decision down to Penn State and UMiami (no matter the outcome of NYU and Syracuse). My major is Broadcast Journalism. I believe that both PSU and UMiami rank around the same in US News and as far as their communications departments go.

I was almost set on Penn State until I received my UMiami acceptance yesterday along with a $17,000/year scholarship (So far, PSU has only offered $6,000/year). Now I am having a very hard time deciding which school is for me. Obviously UMiami wins in the weather category.

Could you fellow CCers give me some advice as to which school you think is better (taking into consideration prestige, the communications department, the social scene, etc).

As a side note, I maintained a 4.0 weighted average (3.9545 unweighted) throughout high school. I took the SAT one time and scored a 1960 (1340). I was involved with Newspaper throughout high school and plan to continue in college. Although I am gifted academically, I was always known as "the smart girl who also loves a good time."

Please help me!!!!!

Where do you think you might want to land after graduation from college? north or south? I would make any decision based on that; where those in broadcast have landed from the particular school…

Thank you! I will consider that!
