Optional Essay advice!

I have written two essays which I could submit for harvard, and I am having trouble choosing which one to submit.
The first talks about a very meaningful volunteer activity I did. It's an activity that I'm certain none of the applicants have done. I don't have any hooks, and I think stressing on this activity with my essay will make me stand out.
On the other hand, the second essay is, imo, more intellectual. It has deeper considerations, and inquisitions, and I think shows a deeper side of me. But, nothing to make me stand out because i'm sure everyone else who applies to harvard also have brilliant essays.

So which one should i go for? the big hook, or the smart essay?

Well, I think that Harvard should already know whether or not you’re smart. Your grades/awards/test scores already show that. And if they don’t, then your common app essay should. I think you should send the hook.

Unless you feel like the common app essay is also a hook essay, and in that case, you should send the smart essay.

The more pressing issue is:
WHY WOULD YOU WRITE TWO!? I didn’t even write one :)
